The time to find users is now.

To follow up on my recent article titled, “Quantum Product Evaluations,” I’ve been noticing some non-quantum organizations making some rather peculiar selections in regard to their quantum solutions. I’ve evaluated some of these offerings, and some of them just aren’t ready for primetime. While you could argue that about all things quantum, some products are noticeably behind the curve when it comes to such things as tutorials, sample code, support services, and general functionality.

So why, then, are these products in favor?

My Story

I think back to my own introduction to quantum computing. As detailed in “Dungeons & Qubits 1: an Adventurer’s Continued Tale Beyond the Quantum Computing Tutorials,” I discovered quantum computing by accident. The YouTube algorithm “thought” I might want to watch a video by IBM Research in which Dr. Doug McClure informed me that I could do quantum computing for free via the cloud, and it was correct.

So, why did I get started with IBMQ (it wasn’t IBM Quantum yet)?

They got to me first.

Years later, and after evaluating quite a few competitive offerings, I still rely on IBM Quantum. Why? It’s the most mature. I have found products that complement either…
