How’s your quantum product doin’?
One of the advantages of being an “independent” quantum algorithm designer is that I am allowed to use any tools I can get my hands on. Since I don’t work for QABC company, I’m not limited to using QABC’s tools. For example, I can use QXYZ company’s tools. In fact, I can use their tools together, I can compare and contrast them, and I can even write about them publicly.
Since I work for neither QABC nor QXYZ, I can write without fear of losing a job. I can write what employees might wish they could say publicly, but they won’t. I can also write about fantastic features of either product, and you know its not hype since I don’t work in either company’s marketing department. If I’m gushing about a product (I’m talking about YOU, Fire Opal), I’m legitimately a fan.
I take requests.
Most of the reviews I’ve written have originated out of curiosity. If I had the time, I’d ideally like to try everything. Requests from readers, such as you, adjust my priorities so that I try certain products sooner than might otherwise be the case. For example, the articles (see below) about Twist, Rigetti’s quilc, IBM’s Qiskit vs Microsoft’s QDK, and Classiq’s QAD platform were all requested by readers. If there’s anything you’d like to know more about, let me know about it.
